Oh Rose Jam, how I love you.
Lush are undoubtedly one of the best brands out there when it comes to product quality, and everyone always goes a little crazy when it comes to their Christmas range. I can remember the last couple of years when the sale went live, and the website was so overloaded it kept crashing. It was insane! I seriously feel for Lush customer service on Boxing Day, and I imagine going into store isn't much better either.
As part of the Christmas range, the 'Rose Jam' Shower Gel is one of my all time favourite products to ever come from Lush. In all honesty, I could sit here all day and smell it it's just that good. Originally designed as a bubbleroon, the Rose Jam scent proved so popular that it was eventually released as its own perfume, and then in shower gel form to coincide with the Christmas range. The scent is something seen in previous products - the 'Rose Jam' Bubbleroon and the 'Ro's Argan' Body Conditioner, and it's definitely something unique and almost iconic.
With strong but soft notes of rose, the shower gel is delicate but intoxicating at the same time. It's a sweet scent, and it has a floral and citrus air to it which makes it all the more appealing. The floral scent comes from the inclusion of rose oil and rose absolute, from which the petals are picked by hand in Senir, Turkey. Infused with vanilla pod, it helps give that floral kick more of a sweet undertone, which the Sicilian lemon gives it a zesty edge.
According to the Lush website, Rose Jam is styled after traditional style Turkish Delight. Now I don't know about you, but personally I hate the stuff - my parents absolutely love it, but for me it just makes me feel ill. Im not sure if its the consistency, the taste, the smell or a combination of all three, but I just can't stand to be near it. So when I realised my favourite shower gel was being compared to it, I was a little shocked. For me I wouldn't really say it resembles Turkish Delight (thankfully), it may have the odd similarity but it's definitely more of its own product. Plus, if it did smell like Turkish Delight, I don't think I'd have quite an attachment to it!
The gel itself once squeezed out is more of a beautiful bubblegum pink colour, instead of the rich red it looks like in the bottle. It's a Lush shower gel, so of course it's going to be great quality - and it certainly doesn't disappoint. I've found you only need the smallest amount to work up into a decent lather, and months on from first opening it, I still have the majority of the gel left (granted I splurged on a 500g bottle, but still). Plus, if thats not enough, the shower gel also contains nourishing Argan Oil, leaving skin soft and silky smooth hours after use. Argan Oil is one of my favourite things ever as I've found to works incredibly well on both my skin and hair, and this time is no exception. I tend to suffer with quite bad dry skin, and using products containing Argan Oil in the past have always helped incredibly.
Overall, I'm constantly falling in love over and over again when it comes to using this shower gel. It's 100% my favourite shower product from Lush, beating out the 'Yuzu and Cocoa' Shower Cream and 'Lord Of Misrule' Shower Cream for top spot. It's been one of those products that I re-buy year after year and I'm never disappointed with it, and I'd definitely recommend this for any family member or friend who loves their Lush products.
