This post goes out to all my fellow shiny faced people out there - fear the shine no more! I'm sure I'm pretty late to the party here, but I've finally discovered mattifying products, and I have no idea why they've never really made it into my makeup stash before. With a shiny face like mine, I guess it's better late than never, right?

When it comes to skin type, I'm one of those people that doesn't really fall into any category, but rather falls between them somewhere. Whilst I can mostly be classed as a dry skin sufferer, I often struggle with oil and shine too. It's weird, as I never thought you could suffer from both dry and oily skin before. What I would give to have normal, fresh looking healthy skin. A girl can dream?

Back in August (check out my UD haul), Urban Decay's De-Slick Mattifying Powder made its way into my shopping basket, and since then its become a product I use on a daily basis. Designed to blot and banish oil, De-Slick promises to keep shine at bay and give that perfect matte look we all crave. As a pressed white powder I was initially hesitant, after all who wants white streaks across their face to get rid of some oil? Thankfully though, the powder is a lot lighter than you might think, and goes on translucent.

De-Slick also has an impressive lasting time that deserves to be shouted about from the rooftops (okay maybe not that extreme). Typically on a daily basis at work my makeup stays put and doesn't budge, but after a while I tend to get a bit of shine on my cheeks and on occasion my t-zone. I hate it because normally it's something I can't get rid of, but thankfully it's something I can control now thanks to Urban Decay. So as it gets to lunchtime at work and the shine starts to show, I slap on some of this and I'm good to go for the rest of the day. It's perfect, and it's always in my handbag now for any on the go touch ups I may need.

For me, as much as I love De-Slick, the only downside really is the sponge applicator that comes with it. Don't get me wrong it's not completely useless and it's good for little dots of oil here and there, but for larger areas I don't think it picks up enough of the product. Instead I tend to just use a firmer sponge to pick up the powder, or my beauty blender which works a treat to spread it out for full coverage. Other than that though, I'm really impressed with how well De-Slick works, and at £19.50 it may be a tad more expensive than similar products out there, but for me it is worth the price. If you're looking for a product that beats shine, lasts for hours and can spare some extra cash for something of higher quality, then this may be the product for you.

How about you guys, have you tried De-Slick before? Or maybe you have some budget friendly alternatives to recommend? Let me know in the comments below!
