One of my favourite things to do after a long day at work is to come home and curl up with the other half and watch a TV show together. We watch so many shows together that sometimes I can't keep track - but the ones that stick with me I thought I'd share with you as I just can't get enough! First up today, a show that started last year - The 100.

Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, a spaceship housing the remaining survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet.

The 100 is set almost 100 years after a nuclear war, where any survivors have escaped to a space station dubbed 'The Ark' in order to escape the radiation. Life on The Ark is going downhill - most residents are unaware that the oxygen supply is rapidly depleting, and without a solution, everyone on board will be dead within three months.

As a solution, the Chancellor in charge decides to send juvenile delinquents down to Earth to see if it is yet inhabitable. On the Ark, any crime is punishable by 'floating' - a fancy way to say being blown out of an air lock. However, any offender under 18 is instead kept in a form of jail, to be reviewed on their 18th birthday to see if they still pose a threat. As you can guess, sending a group of underage offenders down to Earth without any kind of supervision ends up going quite badly:

Within the first few days of their life on Earth, a number of the 100 meet their ends in a grisly way. And of course there's good old fashioned conflict on how to go about things; Clarke wants to establish connection with the Ark to tell them Earth is habitable. Meanwhile Bellamy, who did a very bad thing to get on board the drop ship to protect his sister, wants to destroy any chance of communicating with the Ark.

Add in 'the Grounders' and 'the Reapers' and you have a fantastic recipe for conflict, but I don't want to give too much away just yet. At first I thought the 100 would be aimed at a pre-teen/teenage group, but as the episodes have gone on I think it has grown out of that so much. Some of the deaths have been pretty brutal, and some of the topics are definitely not for a younger audience. For example; one of the murders is committed in cold blood by a 12 year old girl. Yikes.

One of the things I've loved on the 100 is the growing relationship between Octavia (Bellamy's sister) and Lincoln (a Grounder). I love Octavia's backstory too; on the Ark, couples are only allowed one child due to oxygen restraints. Bellamy's mother fell pregnant for a second time, and for years Bellamy looked out for his younger sister who was raised 'under the floorboards' of their room. Eventually she was found out, and imprisoned for merely being born whilst her mother was floated. Harsh? Yes.

Lincoln saved Octavia in one of the earlier episodes, and since then their relationship has both suffered and grown. From warring camps, it's easy to say that they're the Romeo and Juliet of The 100.

The grounders serve as the antagonists for the first season, but we gradually get to see a turnaround during the second. I for one thought the conversations between Anya and Clarke were amazing, and could have led to an eventual friendship. Since then we've been introduced to the grounders leader, Lexa, and I'm honestly surprised at how much I like her.

Of course, I can't talk about the 100 and not mention this. I ship Bellarke, and I ship them hard. Anyone who watches the 100 has to know what I'm on about right?!

Bellamy and Clarke started off as complete opposites - Bellamy having a tough, no nonsense approach and Clarke being more reasonable. As the seasons have gone on though, they've clearly grown on each other - Bellamy has become more likable, and Clarke has become tougher in her approach to obstacles. I can't wait to see how their relationship develops - I prefer it so much to the Clarke-Finn relationship, and hope it is much more of a slow burn.

So whatever it is you're after - action, romance, drama etc - I can guarantee the 100 has it, and you will not be disappointed.

What TV shows have you been watching lately?
